On December 16th, 2019, the EU member states adopted the new EU Whistleblower Directive to protect persons who wish to report violations of EU law. This directive has far-reaching consequences for companies, which are now obliged to make available an internal and anonymous reporting system to submit and process such notifications. The directive places various requirements on this reporting system.
The whistleblower system from INVENSITY and Grant Thornton meets all the requirements of the EU Directive – allowing you and your company to comply with the requirements of the new EU Whistleblower Directive without any effort.
Customer report: How much effort does it take to implement a whistleblower system/tool?
A realistic cost estimate for the development of a whistleblower system is difficult if the (legal) expertise is not available or is only brought in at short notice.
Often, the value or benefit of an external whistleblower system is not seen, and people are convinced that they can quickly have something developed themselves to save money, or that it is sufficient to buy a low-cost whistleblower system and operate it themselves.
INVENSITY has prepared a detailed report for you that makes the effort of implementing a whistleblower system or whistleblower tool transparent and thus facilitates your decision-making.
The whistleblowing solution fulfills all requirements of the EU Whistleblower Directive. Thus, the anonymity of the whistleblower is guaranteed throughout, even in case of inquiries by the ombudsmen. The system also supports in complying with the legally required duties to inform the whistleblower.
When developing our whistleblowing system, we made sure that it can be easily integrated in any existing IT infrastructure. After all, all you must do is provide an information on your company website with the corresponding link to the system. If desired, the interface can be adapted to your corporate design. As a whistleblower, all you need is a standard internet browser.
Compliance with data protection (DSGVO) & ISO27001
As legal and technical compliance experts, we ensure that our whistleblowing solution complies with the data protection requirements of the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). It also meets the requirements of the international information security standard ISO27001. To verify this, we regularly conduct risk and security analyses.
We, INVENSITY and Grant Thornton are renowned companies in our fields. We stand for software development and standards compliance (INVENSITY) and sound consulting and support in Governance, Risk & Compliance (Grant Thornton). With a view to our customer base, we know the requirements of medium-sized companies in particular and have taken these into account in developing our system.
Thanks to our whistleblower system, you do not need to be a compliance expert to ensure compliance with the EU Whistleblower Directive. Because the system is hosted externally, there is no additional support burden on you or your IT. And Grant Thornton’s ombudspersons take care of the whistleblowing process.
With the expertise of the software developers at INVENSITY, it was possible to develop a solution that meets the highest security requirements for data privacy. All processes and data transfers are encrypted. Since the tool is hosted externally, it is also protected against manipulation attempts.
The INVENSITY and Grant Thornton whistleblower system was created through the cooperation of two companies that have contributed their respective expertise to its development and support. As a result, and with a view to medium-sized companies, we can pursue an attractive pricing policy with our system while at the same time offering outstanding quality.
The procedure in detail
One of your employees or even one of your suppliers suspects a violation of Union law within your organization and wants to report it.
The whistleblower logs in to the whistleblower portal of the whistleblowing solution via an Internet browser and with an anonymous account. Now he can report the incident completely anonymously.
3. Confirmation of receipt
From that time on, the notice will be in the hands of the Grant Thornton Ombudsmen. They will acknowledge receipt of the case.
The ombudspersons of Grant Thornton are now handling the complaint. They collect all the information necessary to clarify the facts of the case.
Upon completion of such an investigation, the ombudsmen report to the management of the company, together with a recommendation for further action.
The whistleblower is informed via the portal about the outcome of the investigation and the measures taken. During the entire process and beyond, his anonymity is guaranteed.
The whistleblowing solution from Grant Thornton and INVENSITY enables you to meet all legal and technical requirements of the new EU Whistleblower Directive. This allows you to successfully implement the requirements of the new EU directive in your company.
Our whistleblowing solution offers an attractive price strategy combined with excellent quality.
Furthermore, it can be easily integrated into your existing IT infrastructure.
With the combination of a web-based, secure reporting portal with encrypted data transfer and the ombudsman function by external lawyers, you can ensure a legal professional and at the same time secure handling of incoming information regarding possible observed compliance violations.
Benefit from the combined expertise of two renowned companies in Governance, Risk & Compliance (Grant Thornton) and Software Development and Technical Compliance (INVENSITY) regarding the requirements of medium-sized companies in particular.
