The Challenge

  • Client requires a migration of their backend on-premise MySQL Database into AWS PostgreSQL, to be used for their internal frontend application in a relatively short timeframe.
  • Possible defects on their frontend Java Application due to DB migration needs to be fixed before release for Production.

The Approach

  • Stakeholder analysis to recognize the resources and requirement from each party
  • Database migration using Flyway framework in PostgreSQL syntax and Maven plugin
  • Build of RDB locally for rapid testing of reported software defects
  • Scrum sprints for more collaboration between developers on tackling defects

Result & Added Value

  • Documentation of new cloud infrastructure on Confluence was completed and coached to client
  • A total of 2000 user data is migrated from On-Premise MySQL database to AWS PostgreSQL server.
  • A hundred test breaking and user blocking defects are solved within a span of 1 month.
